    Drimia palaestina is the eastern Mediterranean representative. Distributed in the deserts of Israel, Jordan and Palestine this species flowers at the beginning of August when temperatures are way above the 30’s C.

    Beautiful, narrow, undulate silvery-blue leaves appear few months later. Leaves rot rapidly if stay wet for too long, therefore should be grown in dry, covered area.

    Tulipa agenensis ‘Bible Hill’

    This beautiful shaped Tulip has been found by myself and Sjaak de Groot in Jerusalem, close to the Old city’s wall.

    It is 30 cm tall, sterile form but reproduces by stolons, although these several years to flower.

    Genetically it is a tetraploid form which in my opinion probably goas back to the Ottoman period in Jerusalem.

    Tulipa agenensis sharonensis OP28317

    Somewhat smaller than the usual ssp agenensis.  This form ( ssp sharonensis) is rowing along the northern coast of Israel and Lebanon. Color is the most vivid red with a yellow blotch on the outside and beautiful black center. Leaves undulate and horizontal. Recommended full sun in order to keep this growing habit. Blooming in February to March.

    A small autumnal flowering species endemic to South Greece.

    An incredibly robust and beautiful species from Morocco and the Canary Islands.
    It flowers in autumn when leaves are still immature. Unlike its relative S. madeirensis from Madeira the stem of this species tends to branch into three, with a long flowering season. The large bulbs grow to a Drimia maritima bulb size with deep purple/blue tunics.

    Scilla dimartinoi

    This showy species is endemic to the Island of Lampedusa. Unlike its well known relative S. peruviana, this species has more compact growth and a large flat umbel on a short stem. Color of the flowers is pale grayish/blue which gives a nice contrast to the deep olive-green leaves with white hairs at the margins.
