Member of the Oncocyclus section, this species is endemic to the coast of Israel. Large velvety purple/black flowers.
It is the first Oncocyclus species to flower, as early as mid January. Growing in pure sand, sunny, ventilated conditions. Probably the easiest Onco. to germinate. Needs a long dry summer rest.
We need to hand pollinated all our Oncocyclus Irises as they hybridize freely.
The king of all Crocus! It took us quite a few years to establish a small stock. Since last year we can offer a small quantity of seeds. For the experts!
An Eastern Mediterranean species distributed from Turkey to North Israel and N. Jordan. Large lanceolate, glaucous leaves with many sessil flowers from late January to March. Often covered with snow during winter.
