It seems to prefer hot, dry climate. Curiously it keeps its leaves for most of the summer season without being watered.
The large, almost sessile flowers have bluish standards and a reddish/purple blotch and veins. Beard is yellow.
Forms rapidly small clumps but should be divided every second year in order to produce more flowers.
A slender desert species from Israel, Jordan and Syria.
Up to 3 flowering stems to 20 cm. Many pale flowers with deep purple stamens. Unlike its relatives the pedicels of this species elongate much after anthesis.
