The only autumnal flowering species. Usually appears immediately after the first rain to follow by filiforme leaves. Dew to the many bulblets it produces it can become quite weedy.
Better divide it every few years in order to get more flowering stems. Prefers fertile soils.

Colchicum zahnii ‘Pink wave’ (syn C. psaridis)
A small autumnal flowering species endemic to South Greece.
It produces first the flowers to follow by the leaves. Unlike most of the species in the Genus, C. zhanii has rhizomatous corms.
