This drought tolerant species form South Africa is becoming ever more popular in resent years,

mainly because it can be grown with its bulb out of the soil which gives it a ‘Bonsai’ appearance.

In the nursery, it is planted in the ground, almost evergreen in summer as well (without irrigation) thanks to the very big, sweet potato like tubers.
